President's Welcome
President's Welcome

We all lead a life filled with dreams. However, the true dream is not about the vision that we want to achieve. Rather, it is about the vision that God is supposed to achieve through us. It is the dream of a person made for God¡¯s plan, a person who makes his own commitment to serve his or her neighbors and the Lord.

We dreamers of God¡¯s vision for us will not be frustrated or disappointed in the face of a hard job, tough situations, or pain. We believe that there are special commitments to be fulfilled through ourselves. Our prayers at HTUS are to God for the wisdom, strength and love to help you find and fulfill your special commitment to God.

Since 1892, missionaries from the Presbyterian denomination in the southern part of the U.S.A. have continually supported the people in Korea despite adversity such as the DONG HAK struggle for democracy and against foreign influence, the Sino-Japanese War, and the YOULMI mishaps in Korea. In 1955, following the Korean War, these missionaries founded HTUS in order to restore, through the Word of God, the devastated rural communities of the Honam area, in the southern part of South Korea. Since then, HTUS has prepared more than 4800 graduates to serve as ministers or leaders of choirs in their churches and communities, in Korea and abroad.

We call the dreamer who prospects the future by working very hard in the present, a pioneer. A pioneer-a person who can open the way. Genghis Khan said that the man who opens the way would succeed; the man who builds the castle would fail.

HTUS is a widely recognized seminary and university in Korea. It also has a high missionary spirit which can help open the way for the world churches. Twenty-two missionaries from the Presbyterian denomination in the southern part of the U.S.A. have been buried in the garden at HTUS, which reminds us each day that we also have to be buried on holy land.

Korea has often been in political and economic disarray. However, we can do anything if there is a will and vision, because God will be with us.

HTUS is looking forward to finding visionaries. There is a dream. There is a way. There is a mission which you could be advancing forward eternally.
